Easy Christmas Craft Ideas

Paper Plate Ornaments

Materials:

- Paper Plates

- Glue

-Glitter

- Hole Punch

- Fishing Line

- Pin

Give the glue to the child to make his own design. Then he can spread the glitter around.

Tip: Have an extra clean paper plate so when he is done adding the glitter he can shake the excess 

on that plate. Then if you have an extra jar you can put it there so you don't waste any. I don't care if the colors get mixed, neither the children.

After they dry you flip it over and repeat this activity so

both sides are decorated. Then make a hole with the hole punch and tight the fish line to the pin and pin it on the ceiling. You can use yarn if you like instead of fishing line too. 

Umi liked doing this so we made a bunch of them. Little Princess liked it too. She loved shaking the glitter on the paper plates.

DIY Sidewalk Paint

Materials:

- Liquid Corn Starch

- Water

- 1/4 cup

- Brush

- Tempera

Directions:

Put some paint, 1/4 cup of starch and half of the 1/4 cup of water in each compartment.

Mix well.

Baby Food Finger "Painting"

Painted herself and the tray green! (1/27/12 8 months)

I made the "Paint" with broccoli, peas, quinoa/rice cereal and banana. You can see the first picture how it started. 

You can talk about color. temperature, how it feels and how much is spreading on the tray and on herself. Also, how it  smells!  My little princess loved this very sensorial activity!

Finger Painting

Simple and highly sensorial art project. Big Boy really likes to get his 

hands in the paint.

Materials:

- Finger paints

- Finger paint paper

The child chooses what color he wants and places a few drops on the paper. Then he can enjoy making his art project.

Golf Ball Painting

Materials:

- A flat box with the sides cut off

- A golf ball

- White paper

- Tempera paints

We put the ball on one corner and then we dropped paint to it. Then he shook the box to make his golf ball paint! When he was done with one color he added other colors to the ball. He chose to do it that way. There are many variations to this activity. For example, you can put paint into a small container and put the ball there first before putting it on the box so the child can grab it an do it himself. You can use more balls and have a container with paint with a ball for each color.

Foam Board Snow Man

This is a foam board snow man. It was fun to make it!

Materials:

-White foam board (found at the Dollar Store)

-Glue

-Permanent marker

-Hot glue gun

-Glitter 

- Utility knife

- Pencil

- Popsicle stick

- Buttons for the eyes and body

- I used the cap of a glue bottle for a nose

- A scarf

- A wooden paint stir stick

- Duct tape

Directions:

You can design it any way you like.

We put glue all over the body then we put the glitter then with the hot

glue gun we attached the eyes, mouth, nose and buttons for the body.

I used a popsicle stick and I drew the mouth with the permanent marker.

Then we duct taped the stick in the back. And finally we put the scarf and placed the snow 

man in the front yard for decoration.

The most fascinating thing about this project is that the water and sun dried the first layer of paper and it peel it!!! Now we can re use it for next winter!!!

Use a mixture of shaving cream and glue for a textured snowman!

Messy Art Project Blow up Paint Bags

We did this project in various steps and in the end we had an messy, fun, and artsy explosion!

We got the paints and the sandwich bags. Added one colored paint to each bag.

So Big Boy got to squish it, rub it and play with it.

After he played we added water.

Shake, shake, shake it!

Blow air inside of the bag.

It was neat that we discovered this heart shaped hole in the patio.
