The Forbidden Education/ La Educacion Prohibida

It's been a while since I last wrote. You know how it goes ;-) Anyway, I came a cross a post that Montessori Para Todos wrote in their blog. If you live in  Spain, and even if you don't, stop by and visit their store and their blog! The post is about La Educacion Prohibida/ The Forbidden Education.
I am not going to do a re make of their post since it is well written and it is worth to read it, I just want to share with you their post and the documentary about the educational system.

This documentary talks about why the educational system is not working, and much more. It is a 2 hours and 25 minute documentary that it is in Spanish with English subtitles. I highly recommend both the post by Montessori Para Todos and the documentary. This is an eye opening documentary that ALL parents should watch before sending the children to school.

If you can't for some reason open the link to La Educacion Prohibida post by Montessori Para Todos
you go directly to the La Educacion Prohibida documentary.

Writing and Reading System

This is the reading and writing system I got together for Umi. It consists of little printable books from
Primera Escuela. Below there is alphabet posters with poems that I bought here and I printed them in color card stock. It happened that I chose blue for the vowels and beige for the consonants. If I would do it again I would use the color of the sandpaper letters.

Sandpaper letters. I bought them in Montessori Concepts. I bought several materials from them. It is a long story but to cut it short for now, they were VERY nice to me. They even gave me free materials! I am planning to review them soon.

Here you can see the book up close. The child has to match words since
there wasn't any pictures on the square part of the book. To make this you need to
print the letter sheet that has the little words with pictures that you need to cut for the books.
This books has a page for tracing!

I use this cards for his calendar. It is from Learning Resources but I can't seem to find it neither in
amazon where I bought it and on their website.

The pages on this book have the letter in upper case  and pictures with animals and things
that start with that letter and underneath it has the word written and it is in lower case.

Rhyming Word Cards in Spanish

Umi is interested in rhyming words. So I was trying to find rhyming words cards in Spanish and I came across a website that lets you print 30 rhyming picture cards in Spanish and also there are other printables work sheets.

This website is called Colorear y aprender (click on the name and the cards will pop up in a new page).

You can print them in card stock and laminate them.

Saint Valentine Lapbook/ Lapbook de San Valentin

This is our first lapbook that we made for Saint Valentine.
It is in Spanish. It was easy and fun to make.

It has a couple of songs and a poem on the left, a pattern game, a
memory/matching game and the Happy Saint Valentine sign on the center, and a
heart story book on the right. And behind it BB colored a heart.

This little heart notebook it was a left over from the Valentine's Day gifts
I prepare for the class I teach. So I made a little story about two
friends that always played together and fell in love.

I printed this patters on line and laminated them. I stuck a
magnet on the back of each row and to the cards that
are in that heart box you see on the bottom right. That box came from the 99 c
store. It contained stickers. So I used the stickers for the Valentine's
party favors and used the box to for it and for the matching/memory game you see above
in yellow. I just cut the boxes and turned them into the cards for the game.

BB painted the heart that is on the face of the lapbook on
cardstock and I used velcro to fasten it so it would stay closed.

It is not totally done, I am still looking for a history on St. Valentine's Day in Spanish and that will go on the inside right part of the lapbook.

Las zapatillas me apretan
Las medias me dan calor
Y la nenita de enfrente
Me tiene loco de amor!

Late Late Corazon
(Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star Song)

Late, late corazon
Dentro mio y con amor
Para mamis y papas
Mis hermanos y demas.

Late, late corazon
Dentro mio y con amor.

Yo me amo mucho
Asi te puedo amar a vos
Asi vos podes amarte a vos
Asi me podes amar a mi.

The first one is an Argentinean poem. Below that there is a song of my creation (not the music of course ;-) and the last one is a song too but in order to show you how to sing it I would have to make a video and I wouldn't win  first price in a singing competition if you know what I mean :-(

You can add this songs to your Saint Valentine's lapbook. We are in the process of creating our first lapbook. I will post it when we are done!

Cancion de Halloween

I found this video in youtube. It is in Spanish.I think is great because not only I like the music you can teach about the clock and time with it. I am not planning to let my child watch it...He doesn't watch TV or videos at home but I can use the music for circle time or may be I'll make a felt story with it. ( I will post it if I make it)
Anyway, here it is:

Encontre este video en youtube. Es en Castellano. Esta bueno, porque no solo me gusta la cancion sino que podes encenar acerca del reloj y la hora. No estoy planeando dejar a mi hijo ver el video...El no mira TV o videos en casa pero podemos usar la cancion para aprender o tal vez tambien hare con ella las piesas para el pizarron de felpa que tenemos.
